About Me

I am Amy! I began grooming in August 2005 in Dunedin, and quickly found it to be my absolute passion. I love spending my day with dogs and using my skills to make them look awesome.
I did step back from professional grooming for a while when my children were very young (although I never stopped grooming fully!) and I went back to working professionally at Baarkers, in Oamaru, in 2018.

I am a current registered member of the National Groomers Association of NZ. I have passed all four exams to become a Nationally Certified Master Groomer. I have a current Canine First Aid Certificate. I regularly compete in grooming competitions, and have won various awards there, including the title of National Groomer Of The Year!
I am now stepping up and learning more about judging exams and mentoring other groomers and I’m enjoying being on the “other side” more too. I continue to attend seminars and learn from other groomers to keep upskilling. There is always more to learn and I will always seek to bring my new knowledge in to my salon.
Dogs are my absolute passion, and I love behaviour and training almost as much as grooming, so this is why I am dedicated to training your dog for the grooming process if need be, just as much as grooming them!

I am also a wife and a mum of three young kids who we home-educate. So while my salon is right here at our home, I am not available for your dog outside of my opening hours, as we have a busy life outside of the salon as well! I will endeavour to answer calls and messages during regular mon-fri business hours, but this will vary around family life.

Fable and Sprocket

My own dogs will be in the salon with me and they are Sprocket, the black American Cocker Spaniel, and Fable, the bichon. They are my mascots, greeters, models and grooming guinea pigs and are an important part of my life and grooming. They are in the salon with me but be assured I don’t tolerate them being rude to you or your own dog when you arrive.

Sprocket is from a breeder in Picton. He was born in 2018 and I was lucky enough to get him not long before his first birthday. He’s a beautiful wee guy, and has such a funny personality!!

Fable is from a breeder in Auckland, she was born in 2021. Fable has been my first foray in to actually showing a dog in conformation/breed shows, and she is an official champion show dog.

We also have two cats who we have adopted through Street Cats South Canterbury; Havoc the tabby and Nitro the black.

You can follow all our animals on their Facebook/Instagram page “Sprocket & Co”.
